Merry Christmas...to all!

Merry Christmas!
This is a special Christmas after all as we have survived the apocalypse which supposedly to end us all. XP
We survived to tell the tale (zombie...the new ark...kinda awesome, isn't it? to scare the kids in the future I mean...lolz)

Christmas is the time to share, have fun and be with your family, as well as loved one.
What I love about Christmas is that I get to see all the amazing inspiring decorations at the mall.

Wow, this is cool.
A Christmas Tree which is built by using
tons and tons of books.
I wanna make this one day!
A mini one will do. XD

Another one at the entrance of Straits Quay.
Pretty. ^^

The alphabet 'g' outside G Hotel.
I never fail to check out this one
every festive season as the hotel will
ornate their 'G' logo with something creative
and interesting.
The Santa is cute. XD

The train and big Santa of Gurney Plaza.
I love the train.
Too bad it can't take me to the winter
wonderland of mine.

Again, Merry Christmas to all!
Have a nice day and cheers~

Maricosa @ Straits Quay, Penang

This restaurant has ended their business.

Maricosa is a Pacific Rim and Hawaiian Cuisine restaurant which is newly open in Straits Quay.

My buddy and I decided to give it a try since we had run out of idea when it comes to what to 'nom'. Plus, I am addicted to Coffee Bean's Malibu Dream (due to the fact that it is a banana drink xp) which is not a good choice for dinner. XP

The pineapple shaped glass candle holder.
It is adorable. luv it!

Beans Bins @ Doota, Dongdaemun

It was a rainy day and I couldn't think of anything else to do except change my plan of the day and went to Dongdaemun instead. Shopping should be better, rather than staying indoors in the hotel and sleep for the entire day.

During my shopping spree at Dongdaemun, I went to Migliore (bought some clothes there), a building full of whole sales shops ( Dongdaemun chain store I guess) and Doota. I didn't buy tons of stuff for fear that I failed to bring them back at the end of the trip.

Pretty Christmas tree in Doota.
I love this one!

MiGaBon @ Myeongdong, Seoul

I've read about Migabon from my Korea guidebook and decided to go there for my dinner, since I know the location of one of the outlet which is on top of Myeongdong's Sin Seon Seolnongtang . Migabon is an eatery which is specialized in  serving a variety of porridge, ranging from the sumptuous abalone to the humble potato porridge. They have ginseng chicken as well.

Can you read the words?

Sin Seon Seolnongtang (神仙雪浓汤) @ Myeongdong, Seoul

It was a pain in the neck to decide which food to take in order to tame your grumbling stomach in a cold autumn morning.

After roaming around Myeongdong (that's what I did everyday), I decided to give this place a try as I saw tons of people queuing outside during a rainy morning 2 days ago.At first, I thought that it serves porridge.

I have no idea that Sin Seon Seolnongtang is the shop featured in the Korean Drama, Shining Inheritance (which is known as Brilliant Legacy) till I stood at the entrance. Ahh...what a surprise!  It is worth a try and I ended up having my breakfast twice at the Myeongdong outlet.

Shining Inheritance's posters pasted at both sides
of the door!
You can see the screen shots of the drama at the entrance
as well. Watched the drama and it is not bad.

Jaksal Chicken @ Ilsan (Jeongbalsan) , Korea

Korean wave is spreading fast and furious. From K-pop, to Korean Drama to Hallyu Stars, people just can't get enough of them.

Well, not me apparently as I only listen to random songs and watch random episodes of dramas that I like (fast forward at times...lolz). Perhaps, CN Blue as I like the band and some of their songs.

Ok, people have been telling me to give Jaksal Chicken a try when I visit Seoul. Hmm..trying Korean fried chicken is one of my plan and I decided to explore Jeongbalsan, or they say Ilsan to 'hunt' for the shop opened by Kim Hyun Joong.

I was extremely happy when I found the shop, as
I thought that I was going to get lost. lolz

An ajumma helped me.
Hmm..she was talking in Korean and I was
using my sixth sense to understand.

Well, fortunately, I found the shop!

Ewha Womans University @ Seoul, Korea

It is convenient and affordable to travel around Seoul using subway, as compared to using the cab which can be rather expensive.

Equipped with the subway map, I managed to go to a few places and stayed as I please, as compared to following a tour group. I went to Ewha Wonams University and the place is beautiful in an Autumn's day as well.

The Ship @ Sri Bahari Road, Penang

When I was a kid, I used to be excited whenever dad took the whole family for a meal at Batu Ferringhi's The Ship.

This is due to the fact that I had a chance to eat out, besides dining in a restaurant which is within a HUGE ship made me excited.

Went for a meal with my family at George Town's The Ship which is located on Sri Bahari Road. It was ages since I last had my meals here. I am always going in and out Gurney Plaza.

Korean Street Food @ Myeongdong, South Korea

It is a wasted trip if you were to be visiting a country without trying out the country's famous street food. XP

I like to travel. Even thouh signing up a trip via the tour agency can be more relaxing and comfortable, I still prefer to explore a place myself. Free and easy, without rushing as if I am in an amazing race.

During my trip to the land of the "Gangnam Style", I managed to try out some interesting street food.
I love some of them. They cost for around 1600 - 3000 won (more or less), depends on the serving and what you are buying.
Too bad I do not have a cow's stomach which enable me to shove everything in. =.=

The tornado potato @ Myeongdong

It costs 2000 won for a skewer.
And it tastes good.
Crispy with a lil taste of salt and cheese
to bring out the amazing taste of the fried potato.

You can opt for the one with a sausage as well. XD

My tornado potato.
Prepared to be eaten!

Still, I am amazed to see the ajeossi prepare
the fried potato skewer by twisting
a potato round and round on a skewer.
Sugoi!!!

Fish cake skewer @ Myeongdong

Fishcake is delicious and I love it.
I am a fan of fish balls, that explains why.

You can eat it with sauce or mustard.
(with both as well (^v^) )

Dried octopus @ Myeongdong

I do not fancy this, especially the one
being cut into pieces.

Too tough and took me ages to chew it.
(Tbh, my jaws were sore after that...ouch~)

Anyway, it is advisable to try out the shredded ones.
Plus, I have no idea if it is octopus or squid.
Though there's a big red octopus on the banner. O.O

Mini sausages and fish cakes skewer @ Myeongdong
(for 3,000 won)

This is another street food which caught the attention
of my taste buds. (*^▽^*)

Hot and delicious. Perfect for a cold autumn day.

I prefer the sausages to the fish cakes which has
rice cakes in it.
It was kinda overwhelming which made
me wanna run away when I see rice caked.

Local food store @ Myeongdong
(They sell blood sausages and tteokbokki as well)

Bought hot dog wrapped
with ham and  french fries hot dog.

I love the french fry hot dog the most!
An amazing invention to wrap a hot dog using
french fries!

Taste irresistible with chili sauce.
Yum! (^,^)-b

Caramelised sweet potatoes @ Myeongdong

We tried the small one which costs 2000 won.
the serving is way too small and it is expensive.

The potatoes are cold and hard,
due to the cold weather I supposed.

Still, caramelised potatoes should be eaten
hot for its yumminess.

Tteokbokki @ Lotte Mart, City Hall

Tteokbokki with fish cakes, as well
as a hot bowl of fish cakes in warm broth.

The tteokbokki is extremely spicy and I
kept on drinking the broth. XP

Not a fan of  tteokbokki.
I didn't really eat any of it for the rest
of my trip after this serving at Lotte Mart

Cotton candy in a cup.
My first time seeing it!

Too bad I couldn't try out the famous tall Myeongdong ice-cream, as well as the chestnuts and other pancakes.
Anyway, I am happy of what I've tried and I would love to explore the taste of Korean street food once again in the near future XD

Isaac's Toast @ Myeongdong, Seoul

The unforgettable taste of my recent trip to Seoul must be Issac's toast. (*^▽^*)
I've read about this from a Mandarin guidebook which I've bought prior my Seoul trip and I am glad that I managed to find it!

The sandwich is awesome as the bread was prepared by using butter. Just imagine the aroma will make me dribble all over my keyboard. rofl

The big red round signboard of Isaac's store.

You will see it while walking along the road
after you've turned right after coming out from
exit 5 of Myeongdong's Station.

Staying Up! Among the Clouds @ Penang Hill, Penang

It was a long time ago when I went to Penang Hill with my family. I remember the slow funicular train, pretty flowers and breath taking view of George Town from the hill.

Since some of my friends haven't been there before, we decided to go up the hill for a visit, as well as to see the changes of the place over the years.

Our train ticket

So, remember to bring your Malaysian IC along.

Old Town White Coffee @ New World Park, Penang

Different eateries, restaurants, as well as food court which serves the local delicacies ( or hawker food) can be found in Penang's New World Park.

It was a beautiful Friday morning. Thus, a good opportunity for us to have our al fresco brunch ( not really al fresco, but well, at least we can feel the breeze and we are not inside the cafe)

A sunny morning.
What a good day!

Since, I wanna give my friend a special birthday treat, we decided to have our lunch by the sea for a change.

Counting down to 2013 and be fabulous!

Working life can be monotonous. >.>

The alarm rings every morning, wake up, drive to work, grading people, lurking at the forum, playing zuma, fooling around with my phone and then Zzz as a sleepy head. XP

To make life interesting, well, liven it up rather then leaving it monotonous and sulking, I decided to do something good before the end of 2012. 3 months left...gonna make full use of time X3

Before babbling away, I am inspired by this two site actually.
The posts are inspiring. (thanks!)
Gonna share them here. X3

The Little Nyonya Cuisine (小娘惹)@ Gurney Plaza, Penang

I've seen tons of people queueing outside The Little Nyonya Cuisine ( or can be known as White House Coffee) during my shopping spree in Gurney Plaza for months. I haven't tried the food yet as I am inpatient when it comes to waiting for a place to be seated in a restaurant or shop. rofl

Anyway, my buddy decided to check it out during out trip to Gurney and I was amazed that the eatery was not crowded on that day. (It was a Friday, btw)

A new entry from me at last since I've been kinda under the weather for weeks, which is not cool. xd

Anyway, my friends and I went to Fruuze at Straits Quay weeks ago and they suggested that I should try the yogurt as the flavoured yogurt tastes good.

Hmm...I used to nom frozen yogurt from J Co at Queensbay Mall and this is kinda new to me. lolz

Daorae, Korean BBQ @ Tanjung Tokong, Penang

I'm not a fan of the Korean wave and it took me ages to finish a Korean drama, even though I like some of them.

However,I like the rich flavour of Korean food as it is spicy and appetising when it comes to  kimchi and gochujang in their cooking. I'll always be amazed by the taste no matter how many times I've tasted Korean dishes from different restaurant.

Anyway, I went to Daorae with my buddies as they suggested that they serve the best Korean barbecue and I should give it a try. Since there are 6 of us, we managed to sample a number of dishes.

The big sign in front of the restaurant.
Daorae is actually located next to Xuan Xin
 steamboat restaurant of Tanjung Tokong.
You'll find the place easily, I believe
as the restaurant is located by the road.

Nostalgie Cafe @ Steward Lane, Penang

Please take note that this cafe is closed.

I would love to discover a cafe which is cosy which brings back nostalgic memories of the yesterday.

Well, after reading through some blogs online, I managed to find this, Nostalgie Cafe which is hidden in the heart of old George Town's Steward Lane. This amazing cafe is hidden behind rows of pre-war houses which is located behind the famous Goddess of Mercy temple of Penang and I haven't heard about  it until now.

To be precise, it is located a few shops after Coffee Atelier or you can say that it is located at the end of the pre-war houses opposite the metal caricatures which is known as the "Narrowest Five Foot Way", which is next to a mansion painted in green.

You can see the sign of the cafe from Coffee Atelier.
The cafe is right beside a traditional architectural
mansion which is painted in green.

My Travelogue @ Singapore

Singapore is one of the nearest country that I can visit easily and I've been there a few times. =3

What I like about Singapore is their public transportation, the MRT which is convenient, as well as the clean washrooms, rofl.

Well, I stayed at Hotel 81 at Chinatown and V Hotel at Lavender. You can get food easily at both places and the MRT is exactly at your doorstep. XD

Anyway, I've wrote a few blog entries after my trip and it would be easier if I compiled everything within an entry. XP

Here are the food I've tasted and things that I've done during my visit to Singapore. XD

Gelato @Gelateria Italia

The Connoisseur Concerto @ Singapore, ION Orchard

Garrett Popcorn

Christmas in the Tropics (Chinatown, Orchard Road, Clarke Quay)

Yoshinoya @ Ngee Ann City

Pasta De Waraku @ The Central, Clarke Quay

Christmas Memories of 2011 @ Changi Airport

I'll keep this updated and hope that I will visit Singapore again in the near future. XD

Nando's @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

My last meal at Nando's was 5 - 6 years ago, before I furthered my studies. I used to dread dining at Nando's due to the large portion of chicken and burger. Well, I dined twice at Nando's this year within two months and I simply love the new found passion of mine in this dining outlet. X3

The tray of peri-peri sauces, ketchup, salt and pepper.
I like the design: fork with a chili.
